Job Title: Creative Director
Location: Falmouth Road Race, Inc. offices, 155 Katharine Lee Bates Road, Falmouth, MA
Reports To: Executive Director
Status: Full Time, year round
The Falmouth Road Race is a globally recognized running event dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and community engagement. Since 1973, we have brought together athletes, volunteers, and supporters to celebrate the spirit of running while making a meaningful impact through our charitable initiatives, including our Numbers for Nonprofits program. Key Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Executive Director this position would be responsible for or
- Develop and maintain the creative direction for all Falmouth Road Race branding, campaigns, and digital presence.
- Ensure brand consistency across all platforms, materials, and communications.
- Align creative strategies with organizational goals and community engagement initiatives.
- Oversee the design and production of marketing materials, social media content, website assets, event signage, and merchandise.
- Collaborate with the marketing team, including but not limited to; PR agency, Social Media Coordinator, to develop compelling storytelling and visual narratives that enhance participant and sponsor engagement.
- Work with the sponsorship team to provide guidance relative to activations and promotional campaigns.
- Work closely with photographers, videographers, and content creators on to produce various forms of content.
- Provide direction, feedback, and mentorship to maintain high-quality creative output.
- Work closely with internal departments and external partners to ensure alignment on creative initiatives.
- Oversee the visual experience of race-day branding, from start-line to finish-line activations.
- Ensure race signage, apparel, medals, and promotional materials align with the brand identity and agreed upon standards.
- Develop innovative ways to enhance the participant and spectator experience through design.
- Lead the creative vision for digital marketing, including website design, email campaigns, and social media visuals.
- Ensure engaging and high-impact visual storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external creative vendors, agencies, and production teams.
- Manage creative budgets and ensure projects are completed efficiently within financial constraints.
- Stay current with industry trends, sports marketing best practices, emerging design styles, and technologies.
- Continuously seek opportunities to evolve and elevate the Falmouth Road Race brand.
Qualifications:
- Ability to develop and execute a compelling brand vision while leading and inspiring a creative team.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects) Canva, and other creative tools.
- Experience working within a marketing team to develop branding, storytelling, and promotional content.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work within budget constraints.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across departments, with sponsors, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Understanding of event branding, sponsorship activations, merchandise design, and experiential marketing, preferably in the endurance sports industry.
- Experience directing photo and video shoots, editing, and post-production is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) including Gmail, Google Drive, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, and Meet; familiarity with Canva, CRM systems or project management tools a plus.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn in a collaborative environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to attend meetings in the evenings as needed for example, Organizing Committee meetings, Board meetings and other offsite meetings
- Must be available to attend all race week events
- Passion for sports, running, and community engagement.
- Innovative mindset with a keen eye for visual storytelling and brand identity.
- Experience in a nonprofit environment is a plus, especially in roles involving branding, fundraising, or mission-driven marketing.
