A Note to our Spectators

The ASICS Falmouth Road Race is extremely grateful for each and every spectator that comes out to support runners on race day. Our race spectators are the ultimate hype squad! Spectators bring excitement and joy to the race as they line the unique 7-mile Falmouth course. They make each race day memorable.

Each year, we receive many questions about race day, such as “Where can I watch the race?” and “How do I find my runner?” To clear up as many of these questions as possible, we have compiled some tips for spectators on race day below.

Parking

One of the most challenging questions the race gets asked each year is “Where do I park?” The best answer is: any municipal building/parking lot and/or business that is NOT open on Race Day. There is no single lot in Falmouth that can accommodate the vehicles of all the runners and spectators who participate in the race. We ask runners to either be dropped off at Lawrence School (113 Lakeview Avenue) by a family member or friend or to park at the following lots and walk to Lawrence:

– Homeport Office Complex (316 Gifford St, Falmouth, MA 02540)
– Falmouth Plaza (35 Davis Straits, Falmouth, MA 02540)
– Mullen Hall School (130 Katharine Lee Bates Rd, Falmouth, MA 02540) *Limited spots*
– Morse Pond School (323 Jones Rd, Falmouth, MA 02540)
– Falmouth Mall Lot (137 Teaticket Hwy, Teaticket, MA 02536)
– Town Hall Lot (59 Town Hall Square, Falmouth, MA 02540)
– Falmouth Recreation Department (790 Main St, Falmouth, MA 02540)

All of these locations are relatively close to the Lawrence School. We remind all our runners that any open businesses or private property be avoided when looking for a parking spot on race day, with a risk of being towed. When runners have completed the race, all the listed locations are roughly 30-40 minutes walk from the finish line/ballfield (24 Central Park Ave, Falmouth, MA 02540). Please note, per Falmouth Police Department, that there is no parking on Worcester Court, so please plan accordingly if you have parked in this area in the past.

Viewing

Spectators are welcome to view the race at any point on the course. The most popular areas for viewing are at the Start in Woods Hole, along Nobska Beach and Nobska Point, Surf Drive Beach, Shore St., Clinton Ave., and at the Finish in Falmouth Heights. Please remember to stand to the sides of the course to be respectful of runners!

Consider these helpful tips for race day:

  • Know your runner’s bib number
  • Use the RTRT app to track your runner (2024 version to be launched in August)
  • Use the what3words app to locate runners, family, and friends

Traffic

Due to the high volume of people the ASICS Falmouth Road Race attracts, please plan for heavy traffic on race day. Plan ahead, leave early, and drive carefully! Please be respectful of residents and businesses, and park in one of the recommended areas.

Road Closures are per the Falmouth Police Department. Access to Falmouth Heights and Woods Hole on race morning will be limited due to set-up activity; the entire course will be closed at 8AM.

All Race Day Road Closure information can be found HERE

Drones

Per Falmouth Police Department, the race course and surrounding areas are a NO DRONE ZONE.

Drone operation is prohibited over the race course, race participants, and spectators.

Spectator Etiquette

If you plan on watching the race this year, please be sure to observe these guidelines on Spectator Etiquette as to ensure the safest and most enjoyable race for runners, spectators, and residents:

  • Stick to the sides of the course to stay out of the way of runners
  • Be mindful of fast-moving official vehicles, wheelchairs, and runners
  • Applause, noise makers, and banners are all encouraged to cheer runners on!
  • Please aide us in our efforts to keep Falmouth clean by disposing of any garbage properly. If no garbage cans are available, please take trash with you
  • Keep dogs leashed at all times, or leave your furry friends at home (it’s hot!)
  • Keep off of private property to help us be respectful of our neighbors
  • Please refrain from using discriminatory and/or offensive language or obscene gestures
  • And another reminder that per Falmouth Police Department, the race course and surrounding areas are a NO DRONE ZONE. Drone operation is prohibited over the race course, race participants, and spectators. Thank you!
