August 1, 2012, Falmouth, MA – Chris Lambton will be running the New Balance Falmouth Road Race on August 12, to raise funds for Compassionate Care ALS as part of the race’s Numbers-for-Nonprofits Program. This will be the third year Lambton runs in memory of his mother and to raise funds for the organization that supported his family through the tough days of her battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA) and, ultimately, her passing from the disease.

“Growing up on the Cape, the New Balance Falmouth Road Race was always a big deal and something we all watched so when the opportunity to run the race and give back to Compassionate Care ALS came up, I jumped at the chance,” said Chris Lambton, co-host of HGTV’s Going Yard. “My mom was a nurse at the Cape Cod Hospital and gave of herself in so many ways to her patients, community and family. Because of this, I believe that everyone should get involved in whatever charity suits them best and give back. Giving back just feels so good.”

Lambton is a former Dennis-Yarmouth cross country and track runner who went on to compete in the 400 meters for Providence College.  He competed in the 2010 season of The Bachelorette where he was runner-up. He has recently married a contestant from The Bachelor, Peyton Wright, who will run the New Balance Falmouth Road Race as well. They are currently filming the second season of their HGTV show Going Yard which airs at 5pm each Saturday. Chris is the co-owner of E. Lambton Landscaping in Dennis, Massachusetts.

“Ron Hoffman and Compassionate Care ALS do wonderful work. Not only did they help me and my family during my mom’s struggle with Multiple Systems Atrophy, they are still helping to support us as we move forward,” continued Lambton. “Just recently, Ron connected me with a teenager who lost a parent to this disease. He knew that we could easily relate to each other and help each other. Compassionate Care ALS supports families like this for years.”

Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS) is a Cape Cod based non-profit organization that offers individualized support to those currently living with ALS, their families and caregivers. CCALS tailors their support and services to match the individual needs of each patient and their support network.  CCALS’ unique relational model supports people living with ALS, their families and communities to live their lives as fully as possible with dignity and grace.

“Compassionate Care ALS depends on the donations of the community we serve to help improve the quality of life for ALS patients, their families and caregivers. For the last 13 years one of our largest fundraising efforts has been by partnering with the New Balance Falmouth Road Race,” said Ron Hoffman, founder and Executive Director. “It’s a fun event for Chris and the rest of our supporters to participate in, while raising much needed funds for our organization.”

The New Balance Falmouth Road Race partners with dozens of charities for its Numbers-for-Nonprofits Program which has raised millions for charities over the years. Compassionate Care ALS has partnered with the race for the past 13 years, providing runners who raise funds for the organization with a guaranteed entry into the sold out event. In 2011, CCALS raised over $255,000 from their 110 runners and 31 teams.

The New Balance Falmouth Road Race is on Sunday, August 12, 2012. Further information on the race can be found at www.falmouthroadrace.com. Additional information about Compassionate Care ALS can be found at www.ccals.org. Information about Chris Lambton can be found at www.chrislambton.com
