The Joy is in the Giving
Falmouth Road Race, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 1979. It is committed to supporting and promoting local organizations with specific focus on youth athletics and programming that promotes health and wellness. These efforts are realized by consistent community involvement and ongoing philanthropic endeavors including donations, scholarships, grants, and sponsorships. Its internationally recognized annual 7-mile road race features an iconic seaside course enjoyed by elite and recreational runners since 1973.
An economic impact study was completed after the 2019 race, which notes an overall impact of the Falmouth Road Race of nearly $16.5 million, creating over 100 local jobs and generating almost $650,000 in direct local tax revenue and over $470,000 in direct state tax revenue.
Additionally, our Numbers for Nonprofits program invites over 3,500 charity runners each year to run the event to fundraise for one of our 150+ Massachusetts-based charity team partners. This program has helped to raise over $50 million since 2000.
Since 2012, the organization has contributed more than $5 million to projects that promote the health and wellness of Falmouth and the surrounding area.
FRR, Inc. has supported the installations of several scoreboards and a new floor for the Falmouth High School Field House, awarded countless grants for projects initiated by local nonprofits, and most recently replaced the James T. Kalperis track at Falmouth High School.
Additionally, in an effort to support local business and enhance the participant experience in 2020, FRR, Inc. launched a “Surprise & Delight” campaign. After $35,000 in gift cards were purchased from small businesses in Falmouth and surrounding towns, these cards were then randomly placed in participant kits and awarded to those in our FRR community who demonstrated kindness, shared inspirational posts, or impacted our community in a positive way.
